Bathroom was a good size and I liked the two sinks feature. I couldn't face complaining about this so simply turned the cushion over. The sofa had what appeared to be a blood stain on the cushion. It had a separate sleeping area (I liked the glass wall brick feature), a small kitchenette area (microwave and fridge) and a living area with sofa, table and desk. The view included the ocean, the cruise liners and was a perfect position for the wonderful sunsets seen in Aruba. I stood my ground and said that both options were unacceptable and low and behold a non-smoking room with a view was found. I returned to the reception only to be virtually sneered at by the girls one of whom said that it was this room or a view of the front car park. They checked us in promptly but when we got to the room I immediately noticed it was a smoking room (the stench was unbearable) despite a clear reservation for a non-smoking room.
There were two girls working the front desk and our arrival for check-in appeared to inconvenience them as we had obviously interrupted their conversation. The hotel is a very convenient ten minute cab ride from the airport so we weren't stressed by long transfers or having to wait for a bus however the check-in process at the Ocean Suites was not a positive experience. As you can see from the title of this review I had my reservations when I first arrived at the Renaissance Aruba Resort.
